For the next six weeks, I’m afraid you won’t find much content about Toronto on MyTorontoLife. That’s because as of Monday, this blog is hitting the open road for some much needed adventure! Our travels will range from remote islands off the coast of Nicaragua to the bright lights of Las Vegas, from jazzy afternoons in New Orleons to country nights in Nashville. We’ll be looking for the best Texas BBQ and sampling all the craft beer we can find, wandering through the cherry blossoms of Washington and the Oak-lined paths of Savannah. All along, I’ll be doing my best to share the experience, new discoveries and all the best tips I can find.
I hope you follow along and enjoy the journey!
Have you visited any of the above places? Do you have suggestions for must-see spots?
Have a great time Aleksa. I Look forward to following your journey. Best wishes and safe travels.

Six weeks! That’s wonderful. Washington is wonderful — so many museums! Also, try going off the Strip into Old Vegas. Enjoy all the Cajun food in New Orleans; my particular favorites are Creole shrimp and bread pudding. Have a great time!

Texas… man, that was something else. I mostly spent time in the Guadalupe Mts the last time I was there, but if you get a chance I thought the Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands (both in New Mexico) were totally worth seeing!
Oh, and scorpion lollipops if you’re so inclined 🙂

Scorpion lollipops….yes!! This is definitely something I want to try. Are they readily available? I will add the NM places to the list in the hopes that we can make it there. Thanks so much for these great tips!

I saw them at a couple of those truck stops (yes, I was hardcore back then haha), so I think they should be an easy find!
Have a lovely trip!

I’ve never been to New Orleans but Vegas is wide open! If you haven’t arrived there yet, make sure to stop by the Aria Hotel. It’s an AMAZING hotel ( we stayed there for 4 days 2 years ago) and they have this amazing wall of water that you can stand in for picture opps. As hot as it gets there, it helps cool you off!
Also, check out the Chandelier Bar at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. It’s right next to the Aria. You gave to experience it at night. Out of this WORLD!!!!!!! Have fun!!!!! ~Erica

Fantastic!!!!! I’m so excited for you and your 6-week journey! Please take PLENTY of pics! Oh and make sure to check out the New York New York hotel. Looks just like the skyline of NYC and they have a coaster that circles the hotel. Watch out for the peddlers and costume performers. They’re on every corner, it seems. Take plenty of dollar bills in case you’re in the mood to share! Lol Oh dang, one more. You have GOT to take a pic in front of the infamous Welcome to Vegas sign. You cannot got to Vegas without doing that. We were on a tour bus to the Hoover Dam so I don’t know how we got to the sign. Ask around though….

I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant in New Orleans. Ride the trolley to you are almost at the end of the line then a short walk. Ride is nice and food is great. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g60864-d1739102-Reviews-Boucherie-New_Orleans_Louisiana.html

Unfortunately New Orleans has already come and gone 😦 I did get to eat some great food there though, but I’ll put this place on my list for next time!
