Weekly Photo Challenge: Achievement

space shuttle endeavor

Space and the possibility of space travel have always been fascinating to me.  Even with the sadness of recent setbacks, it is incredibly exciting to consider that commercial space travel will likely be counted as a Human Achievement well within our lifetimes.  The enormity and scale of our achievements in space was reinforced when I observed the Space Shuttle Endeavour in person at the California Science Center in Los Angeles.  Through 25 space missions, Endeavour flew over 122,000,000 miles, supported the the assembly of the International Space Station, and contributed greatly to our understanding of what lies beyond our own little pocket of the Earth. Humanity, we might really be able to achieve anything.
